What Are Dental Bridges?

Dental bridges are a fixed prosthesis used to replace one or more missing teeth, thereby “bridging” the gaps in your smile. There are several types of dental bridges, each supported by adjacent natural teeth, abutment teeth, or implants. The false tooth (or pontic) is fused with crowns on either side of the gap, and the entire assembly is then cemented to your natural teeth or implants.

When Are Dental Bridges Needed?

Dental Bridge can be used to replace missing teeth to
  • Improve smile and aesthetics
  • Prevent teeth either side of the space from tilting
  • Prevent gum disease due to food trapping in the gap
  • Evenly distribute the force generated from biting/chewing
  • Improve speech (where impaired by tooth loss)

  • Improve shape of face (where sunken from tooth loss)

What Are Dental Bridges Made Of?
  • Full Porcelain (tooth coloured)
  • Full Metal
  • Porcelain bonded to metal (tooth coloured)
